2027 Exhibit Gallery

The 2027 Highlands County, Florida, Black History Exhibit theme: Rhythm, Rhyme, and Cadence - “Print and Digital Communications,” explores the duality of print and digital technologies as tools of empowerment and as instruments of communication barriers.  The exhibit will celebrate Negro, Black, and African American print, as the culture has long used print media—newspapers, magazines, books, and pamphlets—to tell their own stories, evolving from the Negro (Slave) Narratives of the 1700’s to street-corner papers to independent bookmaking and magazines to global digital networks.

Curated and presented by Selvin Walker, Junctions' 2027 Black History Month Commemoration, Rhythm, Rhyme, and Cadence - “Print and Digital Communications,” held at the Lakeshore Mall in Sebring, Florida will display several artifacts, artwork, and literature, including works that are scarce or no longer in print.

The exhibit is scheduled to run from February 7- 28, 2027, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.  A schedule of events during the exhibit is forthcoming.
